Man, once I actually have the funds, I want to find a 928 that has already had all the electrics sorted. Automatic, too, because I want it as a GT car for long distance cruising.

I’m greedy, I want an auto one in the dark purple with a bit of feetling done to the engine to give it lots of lazy low down grunt for cruising. I also want a manual in the electric blue with a couple of huge turbos to give it loads of top end grunt that you have really work through the gears to get the best out of, plus suitability sorted suspension for chucking it about.

God I love 928's, the looks (esp S4's onwards) and the sound of that big German V8 howling............

It’s just a shame that they aren’t exactly known for having a reliable electric system, and then also having said electric system be very complicated to service. If I had one that had already had everything fixed, it would be amazing.

It’d also probably cost a small fortune, too.

If I had the money I wouldn't care!

I’m sorta with you, but with all the hate around the Panamera, I think in a few years you could find one for a comparable price to a nice 928. Forget the looks — for grand touring, you're INSIDE the car, not looking at it :D

I love the obscurity of the front engined Porsches!

You can add Megasquirt for probably less than a grand and get rid of all the 30-year-old Bosch engine management. The rest of the chassis electrics (e.g., lights, radio, HVAC, etc.) aren’t really anything that complex as far as I’m aware.

Problem solved! And probably a decent little performance boost too!
